Isager Jensen Yarn
Isager Jensen Yarn was originally named ÅLJ yarn after the renowned knitting designer Åse Lund Jensen. In the 1960s, Åse Lund Jensen produced hand-knitted sweaters for export, but the Swedish yarn she used was so heavy that shipping costs became prohibitive. This challenge led to her collaboration with Henrichsens Uldspinderi in Skive, resulting in a lighter, thinner yarn and the development of the color palette still used today in Jensen Yarn, Spinni, and Tvinni.
The white wool in the Isager Jensen Yarn is sourced from New Zealand, while the brown and grey wools for the s-colours come from Gotland sheep in Europe. The New Zealand wool supplier is part of Wool Integrity New Zealand, a program ensuring animal welfare and sustainability.
Although the yarn is chemically dyed, the original color palette created by Åse Lund Jensen is based on plant dyes. The colors 0, 0s, 2s, and 3s are undyed and unbleached. The remaining colours are Oekotex 100 certified made by European manufacturers, but since the spinning mill is not certified, the yarn does not carry the Oekotex 100 label.
This 3-ply yarn is firm and round, making it ideal for structural knitting, as the texture stands out clearly. It boasts excellent durability and wears beautifully, similar to Tvinni. We especially recommend it for outdoor sweaters and leisure wear.
